Fresh Produce Associate | Part-time

The Fresh Produce Associate is responsible for preparing, packaging, merchandising, and maintaining fresh fruits and vegetables for retail sale while supporting restaurant and catering operations. This position prepares fresh-cut produce, fruit trays, vegetable trays, and specialty orders while ensuring the highest standards of product quality, food safety, sanitation, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, wash, trim, cut, package, and label fresh fruits and vegetables according to standards.


• Assemble attractive fruit trays, vegetable trays, and specialty orders that meet specifications.


• Support restaurant and catering operations by preparing fresh produce accurately and on schedule.


• Inspect produce for freshness, quality and appearance before preparation, packaging, or display.


• Rotate inventory using FIFO practices to maximize freshness, minimize waste, and maintain product


• Receive, inspect, stock, and replenish fresh produce to ensure consistent product availability


• Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked displays with accurate pricing and product identification.


• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures during daily production activities.


• Clean and sanitize preparation areas, utensils, equipment, and work surfaces throughout shift.


• Communicate inventory counts, product ordering needs, and shortages to the supervisor.


• Support additional activities and special projects as business demands and staffing needs require.


• Perform other duties while contributing to a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Previous food preparation, grocery, produce, or retail experience preferred.


• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and quality control practices.


• Ability to safely operate knives and standard food preparation equipment.


• Strong attention to detail, organization, product quality, and consistency.


• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a production team.


• Dependable attendance, positive attitude, and commitment to excellent customer service.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday in retail and production environments.


• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.


• Ability to work comfortably in refrigerated preparation and food production areas.


• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive food preparation activities safely.


• Ability to safely use knives, cutting equipment, and food preparation tools throughout the shift.
