A Brief Overview
Serve the customers of the Auxiliary Gift shop by operating the cash register (TAM – point of sale system), stocking, making deliveries within the medical center, and offering general assistance to customers in the Shop.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- 6 months Cashier experience. Preferred
- Prior experience and accuracy in operating a cash register and credit card machines. Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Must possess excellent customer relations skills and the ability to meet the public, work with volunteers and staff. (Required proficiency)
- Must possess the ability to operate the point of sale system which also includes credit card and check approval machines. (Required proficiency)
- Must have good telephone etiquette. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. (Required proficiency)
What you will do
- Interact well with all customers and staff/volunteers.
- Cashiering: must be able to learn to run the point of sale system and all related procedures. Accuracy in sales and money transactions is essential.
- Stocking/Processing: check-in by the TAM system, price and arrange merchandise on shelves or display areas neatly and attractively.
- Making deliveries to patient rooms - flower, balloon, gift purchases - within the medical center.
- Oversees and makes assignments to variable volunteers during the absence of manager and supervisor.
- Order routine items from vendors, (candy, sundries, snacks) upon request of manager. Restock shelves, as needed.
- Be knowledgeable of merchandise to assist shop customers.
- Know and comply with Gift Shop and Stormont-Vail HealthCare policies and procedures.
- Learn and perform opening/closing procedures.
