Groundskeeper

Description

The Two Rivers YMCA is currently looking for seasonal Groundskeeper for day shift at 25-30 hours a week. Pay starts at $15.00 an hour, but depending on experience it could be more. The candidate must know how to use hand tools and power tools, various types of mowers and other equipment.  The candidate must be mechanically inclined to be able to trouble shoot problems and come up with a solution for fixing any issues on equipment that arise at the Two Rivers Y, Golf Center and Spirit Mind and Body Center.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. · Assist with maintaining the Buildings & Grounds; currently including the Main YMCA facility, Rock Island Y, Bass Street Y, Kewanee Y, Golf Center and Spirit Mind and Body Center. Branches.

Including, but not limited to, mowing, weed eating, repairs to building and equipment and painting.  Overall, maintaining a high quality of repair and appearance of the entire Grounds.

· Maintaining the comprehensive maintenance schedule as directed.

· Maintain accurate records.

· Attend all staff meetings and training events as directed.

· Maintain a professional image of the YMCA in the YMCA and in the community.

· Relate to contractors providing services at the YMCA.

· Communicate effectively with staff and members.

· High School diploma or general education degree (GED); and five years maintenance experience. 

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policy/procedure manuals, and operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with member/non-members, employees, vendors and contractors. 

· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

· Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in abstract and standardized situations.

· CPR/AED for infant, child and adult, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication and if driving for the YMCA a valid Driver’s License and valid Car Insurance. 

· Must have competence on a computer. Required training in basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC and pool chemistry. Experience with pool filter equipment and various tools.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally life and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic and caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but at times loud.


Salary Description

$15/hr
