Job Summary: Promote healthy living while enjoying the benefits of a flexible schedule! The Per Diem Health and Wellness Educator will be responsible for delivery of programs that promote health and wellness at Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) service sites throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties.
The Educator must be fluent in English. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
The Educator will work on an as-needed basis with the ability to select and sign up for the class preferred based on time, location, and curriculum. Classes are taught in person during the day, evenings, and weekends. The Educator must be able to travel consistently to our main site in Pennsauken, NJ and to class sites located throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach health and wellness classes within the FBSJ target areas using provided curriculum; classes are delivered in-person
Successfully complete instructor training for selected curricula
Administer electronic or paper participant surveys and waivers at each class
Responsible for setting up prior to the start of class and cleaning up after class
May transport food, cooking equipment and educational materials between Food Bank of South Jersey in Pennsauken, NJ and class sites
Local travel within Camden, Burlington, Gloucester and/or Salem counties with personal vehicle is required
Skills and Abilities:
Energetic and enthusiastic group instructor and facilitator
Comfortable working with and can effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and opinions
Strong communication skills, can establish and build rapport with ease
Independent worker and self-starter
Highly organized, flexible, adaptable, and able to multi-task
Detail oriented, excellent record keeping and time management skills
Interest and ability to learn new information and skills in a classroom environment
Proficiency in using videoconferencing tools, especially Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Ability to travel throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties
Ability to use personal vehicle to travel and transport materials
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Ability to safely lift 35 pounds
Knowledge of adult learning theories a plus
Proficiency in conflict resolution and de-escalation a plus
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, a plus
Qualifications and Education:
Training in human services, health, education, nutrition, or related area required; college degree preferred
Proficiency in food safety and preparation
Proficiency in administrative tasks
Skilled in public speaking and presentations
Experience working with diverse groups
Access to reliable transportation
Clean driver’s license
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
