JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, this position provides essential support to the Human Resources function by maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering timely, service‑focused assistance to employees and managers. Key responsibilities include supporting employee benefits administration, managing leave programs, processing HRIS transactions, and assisting with a variety of general HR operations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer health and welfare benefit programs, including employee enrollments, updates, and terminations.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment activities and respond to employee questions regarding benefits.
  • Process and manage leave of absence requests (FMLA, medical, personal, disability).
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation claims and return‑to‑work processes
  • Maintain accurate employee records and process HRIS transactions for hires, changes, and terminations.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding, ensuring completion and accuracy of required documentation.
  • Generate and prepare reports, employment verifications, and compliance-related documents.
  • Assist with wellness program administration and related tracking or reporting.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources team.
  • Complete all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum one (1) years of HR, benefits, or payroll experience
  • Experience with HRIS systems required
  • Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and benefits administration
  • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and customer service skills
  • Ability to be accurate, pay attention to details, multi-task, maintain confidentiality, work independently as well as with others, make sound decisions, deal with frequent interruptions, and be self-motivated.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light work involving lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.

To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Additionally, all employees of the College are expected to maintain professional standards of communication, able to learn and apply new technology, and abide by all policies and procedures. Continued employment remains on an “at-will” basis.
