Landscape Utility Crew - Seasonal Part Time

POSITION:

• This is a part-time seasonal position (Spring, Summer, Fall)


• This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check.


• The rate of pay for this position is $19.00/hr. to $20.00/hr. depending on experience.


• The core working hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Weekdays approx.32 hours per week


• Transportation will be provided from main shop located at 1040 Windward Drive London, Ohio

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cut lawns, using hand mower or power mower


• Trim and edge around walks, flower beds and walls, using clippers and edging tools


• Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears


• Rake leaves and cleans or sweeps up litter using spiked stick or broom


• Shovel snow from walks and driveways


• Spread salt on public passage ways


• Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs


• Water lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler system


• Clean out drainage ditches and culverts, using shovel and rake


• May operate walking mowers, roto tillers or riding mowers


• May operate chain saws, hedge trimmers and other hand-held power operated tools to prune, cultivate, shovel, trim, cut and dig


• Perform other duties as assigned


• Using and operating hand tools, mechanical equipment, power tools, and equipment required for the work in accordance with safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The Candidate must be able to stand 33%, walk 33% and sit 33% of the work time. These requirements are necessary to operate riding mowers to cut and trim grass, plant vegetation, rake, shovel, etc.


• He/she must be able to lift/carry/push/pull 100 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle, in order to load and unload materials and equipment.


• He/she must be alert to safety hazards and have a method of communicating, so those around can respond and understand; must be able to see and tell colors, as this is necessary to drive equipment, inspect groundwork and perform grounds tasks.


• Mainly work outside. Working conditions are subject to extreme temperature and weather conditions, dust, dirt, fumes, or flying objects (grass).


• Must have a valid Ohio driver's license and be willing to travel to multiple facilities to perform work every day.


• Demonstrate a willingness and ability to work as a team member including giving and receiving feedback, assisting others in completion of tasks; possess interpersonal listening, and participation skills

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Will be exposed on a regular basis to outdoor environment (i.e. heat, cold, damp, rain, snow etc.). Will also have light to moderate potential for exposure to injuries (i.e. chemicals, electrical, machinery, tools, lifting, etc.). Will be exposed to some low-level noise when using power tools. Hazards can be minimized with proper lifting techniques, and compliance with general/company safety training; wearing proper equipment and following Company policies and procedures.
