The Clinical Medical Office Assistant / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is part of the Specialty Health Care Department and is a part-time role working approximately 64 hours per two-week pay period. This position supports daily clinical and office operations by providing direct patient care and coordinating clerical functions to ensure efficient patient flow, quality care delivery, and a positive patient experience. The role works closely with providers, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to deliver safe, professional, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Clinical Medical Office Assistant:

    • Minimum of one year of experience in a physician practice or clinical office setting preferred

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

    • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program

    • Current Ohio LPN license required

  • BLS certification required or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment

  • Knowledge of infection prevention principles

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks based on urgency

  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding and use of electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)

  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology preferred

  • Demonstrates professionalism, initiative, teamwork, and a strong customer service focus

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the guidance of licensed providers and nursing staff

  • Perform a combination of clinical and clerical duties to support daily office operations

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist with patient flow and diagnostic or treatment procedures

  • Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and pertinent clinical information

  • Collect specimens and perform basic clinical tasks as requested

  • Schedule appointments, procedures, and referrals; obtain pre-certifications and authorizations as needed

  • Answer telephones, greet patients, and manage patient communications professionally

  • Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical environment in accordance with policies and infection prevention standards

  • Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless care delivery

  • Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards

  • Perform other duties as assigned
