Advanced Specialty Hospital of Toledo, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Part Time LTACH Unit Clerk to join our team.
Day shift 06:45-19:15 or
Night Shift 18:45-07:15
Every Third Weekend
Holiday rotation
PURPOSE/BELIEF STATEMENT:
The LTACH Unit Clerk is responsible for directing the orderly flow of unit and patient related data and communications through the answering and initiation of telephone calls, written messages, and the organization and completion of the various charts, requisitions, reports and other forms.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Medical Record Management/Patient Care Support: Accurate preparation and maintenance of each patient’s medical record. Obtains, sorts records and thins charts, processes chart after patient discharge. Assists nursing staff and physicians with documentation needs and other duties to support the ongoing flow of information, equipment and supplies.
Order Processing: Process orders in a timely manner so quality patient care is facilitated, delivered and maintained. Verify accuracy against medical record and process charge entry following patient discharge and completion of nurse charge sheet. Reconcile charges to orders as directed by RN.
Communication: Answer telephone at nursing desk, screening calls and dispersing to appropriate staff. Coordinate entry and retrieval of patient information, communicate physician orders as needed, and facilitate communication flow with staff, physicians and ancillary services.
Maintain excellent working relationship with hospital staff at all levels.
Promote Company philosophy, mission and objectives within and to customers outside the hospital.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and complete duties within allotted time.
Willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
Demonstrates and understands the importance of and respect for the rights, dignity, and individuality of each patient, visitor, vendor and staff in all interactions.
Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times.
Demonstrates respect for co-workers and responds to needs of patients and visitors by complying with hospital policies.
Demonstrates exemplary level of interpersonal skills to interact and deal tactfully with facility staff, Administration, patients, families, customers, vendors, and government agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of a unit secretary course or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-4 years experience in a medical clerical field.
Current immunizations (MMR, DPT, Varicella, Hep B and TB screening) are required.
Medical Terminology required
Previous experience with electronic order processing
Previous Hospital experience
Fast paced medical setting
12 hour shifts
