Maintenance Assistant – Part-Time

Milwaukee Eye Care Associates is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Assistant to help keep our clinics safe, clean, functional, and well maintained.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, working independently, solving problems, and taking pride in keeping facilities in excellent condition. The Maintenance Assistant will work under the direction of our Maintenance Manager and provide support across our Milwaukee Eye Care locations. 

Schedule

This is a part-time position working approximately 20–25 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

The specific days and hours can be flexible, but the Maintenance Assistant will be expected to work at least 3–4 days per week. The schedule may vary depending on maintenance needs, projects, weather, and clinic operations.

Local travel between Milwaukee Eye Care locations will be required.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities include:

• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work. 
• Complete interior and exterior repairs, including painting and drywall patching. 
• Troubleshoot minor facility issues. 
• Maintain the exterior grounds at our Prospect location, including mowing, edging, weeding, mulching, and brush clearing. 
• Assist with snow removal and salting of walkways, stairs, and parking areas. 
• Respond to maintenance requests across Milwaukee Eye Care locations. 
• Keep tools and maintenance supplies organized, stocked, and secured. 
• Assist with monthly supply orders and emergency supply requests. 
• Update the daily Maintenance Log to document the progress of assigned tasks. 
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs or projects when directed by the Maintenance Manager. 
• Serve as a backup courier driver as needed. 
• Be available for on-call needs as needed.   

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently. The right person will have a positive attitude, communicate well with others, and be willing to jump in wherever help is needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required. 
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with a clean driving record. 
• Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, and general repairs. 
• Ability to safely operate basic maintenance tools and equipment. 
• Strong time-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities. 
• Dependable, professional, courteous, and collaborative.  

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position involving both indoor and outdoor work. The position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and other physical maintenance activities.

Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
