The Medical Director will serve as the medical leader, principal clinical communicator, clinical operational architect, and clinical quality control executive of The Children’s Care Network. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Medical Director will also work with the Board of Directors and Subcommittees in a decision-making and support role to set clinical goals and priorities of the network, provide senior medical leadership, develop metrics related to quality and professional practice, and clearly articulate the values and goals of the clinically integrated network (CIN). The Medical Director will provide peer-to-peer guidance to physician and other clinical members on behalf of the CIN.
Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in clinical specialty
- Administrative or leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school
- Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate residency program in Pediatrics
Certification Summary
- Board certified and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
- BLS or PALS certification required
- Current DEA registration
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Must be able to work across multiple stakeholders with a variety of perspectives to broker solutions, build partnerships and negotiate and/or communicate to build consensus
- Strong understanding of clinical quality programs and processes, managed care contracting, and payor needs and perspective, to participate in development and execution of organization strategy
- Experience working in a team-based, collaborative environment, with direct facilitation of clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, to drive and manage projects
- Familiarity with evidence-based best practices, utilization review, case management, and quality improvement processes
Job Responsibilities
- Develops care model and assures patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children’s policies and procedures.
- Works collaboratively with the leadership team for the clinical area to ensure the provision of high-quality care.
- Provides medical oversight and clinical supervision including ongoing performance evaluation and professional development of physicians and mid-level providers.
- Establishes and monitors quality, efficiency/cost and utilization indicators/metrics including reporting to the Physician Practice Council.
- Leads in the development and implementation of additional program services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Supports an environment, which facilitates retention, recruitment, and the professional growth of all staff.
- Provides oversight for all research conducted within the area, including maintaining relationships/affiliations with external agencies as appropriate.
- Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of services.
