Part-Time Advanced Technician - Writing Tutor

Position Summary:

Hiring hourly range: $14.00 to $14.92 depending on qualifications.

Job Summary:

The Academic Success Center (ASC) facilitates one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to help students to improve their academic, professional, and creative writing. This role emphasizes teaching the writing process-from brainstorming and outlining to refining arguments and mastering citations.

This position primarily involves working in-person in the Dale Mabry Academic Success Center with the potential to work remotely to a very limited extent. This position will be scheduled no more than 28 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

Job Duties:

• Facilitating 1:1 tutoring sessions in person and online with students of all ability levels and disciplines to improve drafting, revision, and organizational skills.

• Enhance students understanding of the assignments, develop research strategies, and integrate scholarly sources effectively.

• Assist with grammar, sentence structure, and specialized citation styles, including MLA, APA and Chicago.

• Participate and collaborate to design and lead workshops and create instructional materials.

• Provide guidance and/or training to tutors to maintain the ASC's standards of high quality professional tutoring.

• Maintain accurate records of sessions through session reports within out scheduling and tracking software.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree and two years of prior related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Competitive applicants for this Advanced Technician position will have at a minimum a Bachelor's Degree in a field of study with extensive writing requirements.
