About the Position

Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School is seeking a dependable and engaging part-time Aftercare Teacher to supervise and support students in the after-school program. This position is responsible for providing a safe, structured, and welcoming environment through age-appropriate games, enrichment activities, homework support, and supervised free play.

Schedule: Approximately 3:00 p.m. - 5:45 p.m., Monday through Friday (approximately 2.75 hours per day)

Compensation: Starting at $23.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

Student Groups: TK-8 students or assigned grade levels

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Supervise students indoors and outdoors.
• Lead age-appropriate games, projects, and activities.
• Support homework and quiet study as needed.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed environment.
• Track attendance and ensure students are released to authorized adults.
• Communicate student concerns, injuries, or incidents to Hausner staff.
• Assist with snack, setup, and cleanup.
• Follow all Hausner safety, confidentiality, and child protection requirements.

Professional Qualities and Skills:

• Experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, recreation, or similar setting preferred.
• Strong communication and group supervision skills.
• Reliable, punctual, patient, and able to work collaboratively.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Actively supervise students in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the campus for extended periods.
• Participate in games, recreational activities, and other student engagement activities.
• Occasionally lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds.
• Respond quickly to student needs and emergency situations.

Conditions of Employment

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required pre-employment clearances, including Live Scan fingerprinting, TB clearance, employment eligibility verification (Form I-9), and all required school and state training.
