Part-Time Domestic Violence Nurse Examiner

The Part-Time Domestic Violence Nurse Examiner (DVNE) provides compassionate, trauma-informed medical-forensic examinations for survivors of domestic violence. This role involves evidence collection, documentation, court testimony, and close collaboration with advocates, law enforcement, and community partners.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide timely and professional medical-forensic examinations for survivors of domestic violence.
• Serve as primary contact for law enforcement, district attorney’s office, hospital partners, and hotline, etc.
• Collect and preserve forensic evidence according to best practice standards, ethical standards, and YWCA policies.
• Document findings accurately and thoroughly for legal and medical purposes.
• Provide expert court testimony as needed.
• Collaborate with advocates, law enforcement, and other professionals to support survivor-centered care.
• Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing training.
• Coordinate with other YWCA program leadership to ensure policies, procedures, protocols and forensic exam program evaluation operates at the highest level.
• Treat all patients with dignity, compassion, and respect.
• Participate in program development and community outreach as requested.

Qualifications

• Required:
• Active RN license in Oklahoma.
• IPVNE certification (or ability to obtain in a timely manner).
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (emergency, trauma, women’s health, or forensic preferred).
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed, survivor-centered care.
