Compensation:The Heart of the Role
We’re helping a warm, thoughtful family with three children (ages 10, 6, and 1) find someone special to support their afternoons.
Life in their home is active and full — school schedules, activities, travel weeks, and the everyday juggle of raising three kids at different stages. Their youngest is in full-time daycare until approximately 5:30–6pm, so this role centers on that important after-school window — roughly 3–7pm, Monday through Friday — when the family reconvenes at the end of the day and needs a helping hand. There is very little baby care involved; the focus is overwhelmingly on the two school-aged children, their activities, homework routines, and the logistics that keep their afternoons running smoothly.
This is a warm, creative household where books, art projects, crafts, games, and imaginative kids are part of everyday life. The family would particularly love someone who feels at home in that environment. Quirky, artistic, creative, and interesting personalities are genuinely encouraged. They have a special appreciation for people who bring individuality, curiosity, humor, and a relaxed spirit to their work. The ideal person combines that personality with maturity, common sense, and the ability to keep the practical details of family life moving smoothly. More than anything, they're looking for someone who enjoys children for who they are, appreciates a home full of personality, and finds real satisfaction in helping a family navigate the everyday rhythms of a busy life.
They’re looking for someone steady, capable, and warm — someone who genuinely enjoys being part of a family’s daily rhythm. The position is 20 hours per week, with the hope of building something consistent and long-term. During certain weeks, there may be modest shifts in hours or a need for a bit of extra coverage, but predictability and mutual respect around scheduling are important.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being useful in a real, tangible way — someone who takes pride in helping a busy household feel calm and organized.
What Your Afternoons Would Include:
Walking to pick up the older kids from school (just 8–10 minutes away)
Helping them transition home and settle into the afternoon
Supporting homework routines and activities
Preparing simple, nourishing meals
Running errands and shuttling kids to appointments
Resetting the kitchen and shared spaces
Helping keep the family calendar and logistics on track
You genuinely enjoy school-aged children and the energy they bring and have experience working within a family setting.
You naturally notice what needs doing and do it without a lot of fuss.
You bring calm, grounded energy into busy spaces
You’re reliable, communicative, and emotionally mature
You’re looking for a part-time role where trust builds over time - those candidates seeking a temporary PT role while seeking a FT role will not be a fit.
Importantly, this family values personality. A little quirk is not just welcome; it’s valued. If you’re thoughtful, creative, intellectually curious, or bring an interesting background to the table, consider it a plus. What matters most is that alongside that personality, you bring steadiness, good judgment, and real experience supporting families.
