Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Lansing has openings for an energetic Preschool Instructional Aide to join our team. Our Aides nurture relationships, support learning, and create a warm, high-quality learning environment where every child is known. Qualifications:
Associate degree in early childhood education or child development or possess a preschool CDA certification.
Experience working with 3–5-year-old children
Able to follow verbal or written directions
Able to observe, describe, and react appropriately to student behaviors.
Physical strength and resilience to perform necessary lifting and related duties
Able to work under stress due to the demands of students
Demonstrable knowledge of appropriate and successful positive discipline methods and positive interaction with students and staff
Training in CPR & First Aid, or willingness to be certified in both
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check (including fingerprinting) before employment and periodically afterward
Responsibilities and Duties:
Engage in a team-teaching model, including planning and implementing curriculum.
Actively participate in classroom instruction by leading small groups and large groups.
Interact positively with children during choice time.
Be knowledgeable about writing anecdotal records, including child assessments.
Respectfully monitor student’s behaviors and administer appropriate disciplinary consequences as authorized by the building principal and teacher.
Inform the principal or teacher of serious student problems, including necessary written reports.
Assist in all other tasks related to lunchroom and playground supervision within the broad job goal as assigned by the program director.
Will employ a consistent daily routine, ensuring a safe environment for all learners
Must be able to always maintain confidentiality and a professional attitude
Ensure licensing protocols are being followed
Other duties may be assigned by the classroom teacher or program director
Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. (Preschool Children)
REPORTS TO: Program Director
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:10:30AM-2:30 PM (Part-Time)
Hourly compensation commensurate with experience
