Part Time Public Works Parks Technician

Midway City is seeking to hire a part-time employee to work up to 30 hours per week (Monday-Thursday) performing a variety of Public Works duties. The hourly pay for this role is $20.00- $22.00/hr depending on experience.

Following the successful completion of the probationary period, this position may have the opportunity to transition to a full-time role.

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Parks and Trails Team Lead, this role performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of City facilities and grounds.

Essential Functions

1. Maintenance of grass, trees, shrubs, and flowers in the City.


2. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of all City buildings, restrooms and cemetery.


3. Actively participate in and adhere to all established safety procedures and protocols.


4. Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

1. Demonstrated ability to safely and proficiently operate assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment necessary for job duties.


2. Consistent reliability and punctual attendance.


3. Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and carrying.


4. Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions effectively.


5. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Must be at least 18 years old.


2. Possess a valid driver's license.


3. Employment is contingent upon successfully competition of a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Education and Experience:

1. Equivalent to a high school diploma.


2. General landscaping experience, including operation of related equipment.

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work effectively with fellow employees, city officials and the public.  Job tasks involve a variety of physical activities, which may include muscular strain, walking, standing, stooping, climbing, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing.  Effective communication is essential to job performance.  Will be expected to work in various weather conditions including slippery surfaces and extreme temperatures.  Mental demands include the ability to recall details, maintain emotional stability, and exercise sound judgement in typical job functions. Frequent local travel is required during the normal course of duties.

•    Monday- Thursday 8:00 am – 3:30 pm
•    Midway City
