Part-Time Safety & OSHA Compliance Officer

Job Description - Part-Time Safety & OSHA Compliance Officer

Ken’s Gutters is seeking an
experienced Safety & OSHA Compliance Officer to oversee and strengthen the
safety program for our field operations.

This is not an entry-level safety
position or a general HR compliance role.

Our field professionals perform
gutter cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, and other exterior home services that
frequently involve extension ladders, roof access, and working at heights. We
are specifically looking for someone with hands-on experience managing these
types of occupational safety risks.

The position is approximately 5–10
hours per week and will include a combination of safety program administration,
employee training, documentation, and periodic field inspections.

What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Review our current field
operations and identify OSHA and workplace safety compliance gaps.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain
appropriate written safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable
OSHA requirements for our field operations.

  • Establish and oversee procedures
for working at heights and fall prevention/protection.

  • Establish and monitor ladder
safety procedures, including proper selection, setup, use, inspection, and
removal of unsafe equipment from service.

  • Review requirements for harnesses,
personal fall protection equipment, anchors, and other fall-protection systems
    where applicable.

  • Establish PPE requirements for
    different types of field work.

  • Conduct periodic safety
inspections of technicians working at customer properties.

  • Identify unsafe practices and
    recommend or require corrective action.

  • Develop Job Hazard Analyses / Job
    Safety Analyses as appropriate.

  • Conduct or coordinate required
    safety training for employees.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation
    of safety training and inspections.

  • Develop recurring toolbox talks
    and safety refreshers.

  • Review incidents and near misses,
identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Advise management regarding OSHA
    recordkeeping and reporting requirements.

  • Review safety requirements
applicable to both employees and subcontracted field professionals.

  • Keep management informed of
regulatory changes or safety issues affecting our operations.

  • Help create a practical safety
culture where field employees understand not only the rules, but how to perform
    their work safely.

Required Experience
Please apply only if you meet the
following requirements:

  • Professional experience in
construction safety, roofing safety, exterior home services, facilities/field
services, or another industry involving significant work-at-height hazards.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA
construction safety standards (29 CFR Part 1926).
  • Demonstrated experience with fall
    protection and working-at-height safety.
  • Demonstrated experience with
    portable and extension ladder safety.
  • Experience conducting
    field/jobsite safety inspections.
  • Experience developing or
    implementing written safety procedures.
  • Experience delivering safety
    training to field employees.
  • Ability to identify unsafe
conditions and clearly communicate required corrective actions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate
    safety and training documentation.

Strongly Preferred
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction
    certification.
  • OSHA 510 or equivalent advanced
    OSHA training.
  • Experience serving as or
supporting an OSHA Competent Person for relevant hazards.
  • Experience with residential
roofing, gutters, exterior home services, construction, or similar field
    operations.
  • Experience with personal
fall-arrest systems, harnesses, anchors, and rescue procedures.
  • Safety certifications such as
CHST, ASP, CSP, or similar are a plus.

This Position Is NOT a Fit If:
  • Your safety experience is
    primarily office-based.

  • Your experience is limited to HR
    compliance or workers' compensation administration.

  • Your primary experience is food
safety, healthcare compliance, environmental compliance, or cybersecurity.

  • You have completed an OSHA course
but have not actually managed safety for employees working on ladders, roofs,
    or at heights.

Schedule
This is a part-time position of
approximately 5–10 hours per week.
 The schedule can offer some
flexibility; however, this is not a fully remote position. The Safety &
OSHA Compliance Officer must be available to visit our office and periodically
observe field employees performing actual work at customer locations.

Compensation
$45–$55 per hour, depending on
qualifications and relevant field safety experience.
Candidates with significant
construction safety and fall-protection expertise may be considered at a higher
rate.

When Applying
Please include a brief explanation
of your direct experience managing safety for employees who work on ladders,
roofs, or at heights.

Applications that do not
demonstrate relevant work-at-height or field safety experience may not be
considered.
