Part Time Special Needs Sitter – Chicago, IL

A family in Chicago, IL 60653 is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dependable Sitter for their 6-year-old son with Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). He is nonverbal, uses an AAC device to communicate, and thrives with consistency, patience, and engaging care.

Schedule

• Start Date: As soon as possible


• Saturdays & Sundays, Ideally 10:00 AM–2:00 PM or 10:00 AM–3:00 PM (approximately 8–10 hours per weekend)

• Pet-free home

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, one-on-one care and supervision during weekend respite care.


• Engage the child in age-appropriate, enriching, and sensory-friendly activities.


• Support established routines while creating a safe, calm, and nurturing environment.


• Assist with ongoing potty training, as needed.


• Prepare and offer simple snacks while encouraging mealtime routines based on the child's preferences.


• Monitor the child's safety and respond with patience and consistency during moments of overstimulation.


• Communicate with the family regarding the child's day and any notable observations.

Requirements

• Previous childcare experience required.


• Previous experience caring for children with special needs, particularly autism, is required.


• Must have reliable transportation and be able to commute consistently.

Preferred Qualifications

• First Aid and CPR certification.

Compensation:

• $20- $25 per hour
