Part-Time Youth Minister (Middle & High School)

Church of the Holy Spirit seeks a part-time Youth Minister to lead and grow a vibrant Catholic youth ministry for middle and high school students. Working with the Director of Religious Education (DRE) and parish clergy, the Youth Minister will help young people encounter Christ, grow in faith and prayer, and participate actively in the life of the Church. The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic who is passionate about mentoring young people and helping them develop a lifelong relationship with Christ and His Church.  Schedule: Part-time, approximately 15–20 hours per week, including regular evening programming and occasional weekends, retreats, service projects, and parish events.

Compensation: Hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Reports to: Pastor and Director of Religious Education

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging youth ministry programming, including regular gatherings, social activities, retreats, service projects, and summer trips.
• Build meaningful relationships with students and foster a welcoming, faith-filled youth community.
• Encourage participation in Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, parish events, prayer, and other opportunities for spiritual growth.
• Help students discern God's call and recognize their role in the life and mission of the Church.
• Provide opportunities for youth to serve the parish and broader community and live out the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy.
• Recruit, train, coordinate, and support adult and teen volunteers.
• Communicate regularly with parents and promote youth ministry through parish communications, email, and social media.
• Collaborate with the DRE, clergy, parish staff, and catechists.
• Coordinate the youth ministry calendar, registrations, permission forms, records, and family communications.
• Assist with the youth ministry budget and purchasing as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with diocesan Safe Environment requirements, including background checks, Virtus training, activity approvals, and required documentation.
• Help ensure a safe and positive environment for all youth participants.

• Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church.
• Passion for working with middle and high school students.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, volunteers, staff, and clergy.
• Previous experience in Catholic youth ministry, religious education, teaching, or a related field preferred.
• Availability for evening programs and occasional weekends, retreats, service projects, and parish events.
