Job Description - Patient Accounts Billing Specialist



Part-time


Description

Shift Type: Part time; 20 to 30 hours per week

About the Role

The Patient Benefits Coordinator plays a key role in helping patients understand their insurance coverage and financial responsibility while supporting accurate, compliant billing practices. This role works closely with patients, insurance payors, providers, and the Revenue Cycle Manager to ensure smooth financial experiences and timely reimbursement in a thriving Medical Spa and Cosmetic surgery Practice.

You’ll handle insurance verification, prior authorizations, patient estimates, and billing support—while helping improve workflows and maintaining high standards of confidentiality and compliance.

What You’ll Do

Patient Accounts & Insurance

  • Verify insurance coverage and interpret benefits
  • Prepare and communicate patient cost estimates (deductibles, co-insurance, out-of-pocket)
  • Manage prior authorizations and pre-certifications
  • Monitor provider schedules for changes that impact billing or authorization
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, payors, and internal teams
  • Support insurance patient payments, deposits, refunds, and balance follow-up

Billing & Coding Support

  • Assist with claims, accounts receivable, and payment posting
  • Review documentation and coding for accuracy and compliance
  • Help ensure ICD-10 and CPT codes align with services provided
  • Stay current on billing and coding regulations and best practices
  • Educate and support staff on billing and estimator workflows

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify opportunities to improve billing and financial workflows
  • Support training and implementation of best practices for insurance billing
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and company policies

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle experience
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and insurance billing processes
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Nextech, Trizetto, or Klara is a preferred (not required)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Work Environment

Combination of sitting, standing. Collaborative meetings may require some transit back and forth between two office buildings (across a parking lot).

Salary Description

Starting $25.00 per hour; based on experience
