Poetry Therapy Instructor

Location: VA San Diego Healthcare System, 3350 La Jolla Village Dr., San Diego, CA 92161
Position: Part-time

Duties:

• Provide creative art sessions through poetry instruction to support Veterans coping with mental health, trauma, end of life, and death/dying experiences.
• Instruct on creative writing techniques and processes, including poetic writing.
• Provide readings, writing prompts, and facilitate readings of poems.
• Support Veterans and their families in processing emotions through poetry, focusing on life and relationships.

Requirements:

• Current Poetry Teacher or experienced in using poetry in practice.
• Licensed mental health professional (LMFT, LPCC, LCSW).
• Experience working with U.S. Military populations in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Minimum of 1 year working in a hospital setting and with hospice or rehabilitation wards.
