RN / Registered Nurse - Surgical Specialties Unit at UW Medical Center-Northwest

UW Medical Center-Northwest - 2B Surgical Specialties has an outstanding opportunity for a Rotating Shift (Days and Nights) Registered Nurse.

WORK SCHEDULE

• 36 hours per week
• 3x12 shift schedule
• This position works a mix of rotating day shifts and night shifts - additional details will be provided in the interview
• Must be available to work weekend shifts on a rotating basis

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

• 2B Surgical Specialties is a 22-bed hospital unit supporting a variety of general surgery patients.
• We provide medical-surgical care to patients recovering from appendectomies, complex bowel resections, hernia repairs, and more.
• Our unit is fast paced, and we are proud to hold some of the highest admission-discharge-transfer (ADT) rates in our hospital.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide post-op and telemetry monitoring for patients who have received minor inpatient surgeries
• Administer medications and IVs
• Administer foley catheters and nasogastric tubes
• Provide discharge instructions to patients and caregivers
• Document care outcomes in Epic
• Follow evidence-based nursing practices

REQUIREMENTS

• Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
• BLS
• Medical-surgical or post-op nursing experience is preferred but not required
