RN Shift Supervisor - Adult Behavioral Health Unit - St. Rita's Medical Center

The Nurse Supervisor coordinates the daily operations of the nursing department, including but not limited to: staff scheduling, program planning, resource management, quality improvement, quality patient care and supervision/development of staff in accordance with all professional, regulatory, and accreditation standards. 

Essential Functions

• Provides leadership through role modeling, mentoring, and coaching 
• Collaborates with manager to recruit, hire, orient, and train new employees 
• Demonstrates ability in problem solving by analyzing each situation and assessing available resources. 
• Formulates relationship with all departments to promote teamwork. 
• Directs activities of the department in accordance with hospital policies, objectives, and applicable local, state, and federal regulation. 
• Acts as a resource person for patients, families, and hospital and medical staff. 
• Assists with direct patient care to ensure safe and effective care in all urgent and emergent situations. 
• Demonstrates proficiency in critical nursing skills  
• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by calculating staffing needs based on acuity and emergent situations to ensure the most efficient and effective use of staff. 
• Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mission and Core Values 
• Collaborates with manager to conduct annual and ongoing appraisal of employee performance, communicates job standards and expectations 
• Assist implementing measures of quality improvement to align with key performance indicators.

Education Qualifications -
