Server - Part Time (New Haven Winners Circle)

May perform all or a combination of the following duties to facilitate food and/or beverage service to guests in the food and or beverage areas of facility.

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None

• Provide friendly, prompt, and accurate food and/or beverage refreshment service to guests.

• Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and/or drinks

• Takes orders from guests, and process order in point of sales system.
• Relays order to kitchen or bartender, delivers to guest appropriately.
• Observes guests, anticipates needs, and responds accordingly.
• Finalizes check.
• Clears and resets tables at conclusion of meal.
• Follows prescribed sanitary safeguards in handling all food and cleaning all surfaces.
• Checks out with immediate supervisor.
• Will abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual or as required by individual departments and/or job functions.

• Observe, and report, violations relative to regulatory, internal control, or company-sponsored policies and procedures. 

• Provide professional interaction and cooperation with internal (various departments) and external (law enforcement agencies) relative to their span of control. 

• Provide written documentation of incidents and events, observed or reported, upon request. 
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory, internal control, and company-sponsored, policies and procedures. 

• Provide an informational resource for patrons.

• Assume a leadership role in employee and guest relations, and professional appearance. 

• Remain alert to issues within their field of observation that may require a security presence and supporting this focus with continuous patrol activities.

• Conduct and initiate corrective action relative to crowd control issues with focus on patron/employee safety with heightened awareness during emergencies, drills, and special events.

• Maintain compliance with regulatory, internal control, and company policies and procedures.

• Valid Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.

• Other duties as assigned. 

• Must be 21 years of age or older 

• Proficient in English verbal and written with the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude. Must be comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment and maintaining a high level of professionalism with our guests and team members.
• Flexible with working various shifts, weekends, holidays, and long hours if applicable. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
• Responsible for fostering a fun environment. Responsible for being gracious to all guests and co-workers. Responsible for promoting a positive influence in the community and participating in company-sponsored events. Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs. Ensures that behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards. Complies with Indiana Gaming Commission Regulations, Indiana Horse Racing Commission Regulations, approved internal controls, as well as company policies.
• Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff.
• Must be able to regularly push/pull or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally push/pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. 
• Frequently required to stand, walk, and occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and use hands to fingers to handle or feel, reach with hand and arms, talk or hear and taste and smell. 
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission. Will require access to the racing facility.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There may be exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke, dust, loud noises, and bright lights.
