Internal Candidate Identified
The key objective of the Social Media Assistant is to nurture meaningful relationships with our community and the public through comprehensive social media communications to increase awareness, engagement, and support for SML’s mission and programs. Reports directly to and works closely with the Director of Community Relations (DCR).
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manage and grow SML’s web, social media to produce high quality communications that will engage the SML community.
Work with SML team to implement communications relevant to the academic, operations, programming, and fundraising, annual calendar of events.
Available for weekly meetings with the DCR and other SML employees as needed. (in person or online)
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Directly related experience that demonstrates success in communication, marketing, public relations, or other related fields.
SML students who have completed the Science Communications class preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in one or more communications skills including: written communication, website content, social media, and public presentations.
Skilled with social media software scheduling platform such as Loomly, to create and deploy SML’s communications, or aptitude for learning such platform.
Team-oriented, enthusiastic, open-minded, adaptable, creative, visionary individual with experience and passion for SML’s mission.
Dedication to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
Requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills are a must, team building, organization, and proven communications expertise in one or more communications skills (e.g. writing, social media, graphic design, etc.).
Occasional overnight time on Appledore Island may be required during the summer.
Time spent on Appledore Island as a student or staff is preferred.
Compensation Pay Range:
$15.25
