Sign Language Interpreter

Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter
Job Type: Part-Time
Location: Washington, DC

Qualifications:

• U.S. citizenship, by birth or naturalization.
• Certification in ASL/English and other relevant sign languages.
• Minimum of three years of professional experience as a sign language interpreter.
• Proficiency in closed captioning and voice-over software.
• Ability to interpret simultaneous, consecutive, and escort interpretation services.
• Familiarity with Section 508 compliance and related accessibility standards.

Duties:

• Provide on-site, remote (Zoom/TEAMS), or hybrid sign language interpretation services, including real-time interpretation for meetings, conferences, and other events.
• Offer closed captioning, voice-overs, textbook or audio script translation, and online document translation with typesetting services.
• Provide Section 508 compliant language services, including telephone services (TDD and TTY), tactile interpreting, and cued English transliteration.
• Transcribe braille documents and offer captioning services for various media formats.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interpreted communications.
• Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure the delivery of high-quality services within the required deadlines.
