Position: Ski/Snowboard Instructor


Schedule: Seasonal (Winter)


Compensation: Hourly/Lesson based wage (TBD) + Season pass + Employee Housing

About the Snowsports Department


The Snowsports School at Chestnut Mountain introduces individuals to the joy of skiing and snowboarding, helping them build skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of the sport in a safe, friendly, and fun environment.


The Snowsports School consists of the Ski and Snowboard School, which offers private, semi-private, and beginner group lessons, as well as our Powder Pups program, a kids learn-to-turn program.


Season Details



  • Winter season runs approximately from December through March (exact dates TBD)

  • Instructor training early December

  • Pay reflects the seasonal, part-time nature of the position


Role Summary


Ski and snowboard instructors will facilitate lessons and demonstrations for students of all ages and abilities. Teaching may include group or private lessons for all ages and/or instruction with our children's Powder Pups program. Lesson assignments are based on interest and level of experience.


Additional responsibilities include training and assisting students in using lifts, helping students with their equipment, and teaching the Responsibility Code and general ski/snowboard safety.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Plan and lead ski lessons and activities appropriately for each lesson category (group, private, Powder Pups).

  • Attend clinics and training with resort trainers and PSIA/AASI certified staff.

  • Foster a professional, safe, and FUN teaching environment for all guests and students.

  • Uphold Chestnut Mountain values and always represent the resort.

  • Create a warm, encouraging atmosphere where beginners feel safe and excited to learn

  • Prioritize safety and always uphold skier/snowboarder responsibility code

  • Continuously improving personal skiing/riding skills and teaching skills

  • Comply with Chestnut Mountain Resort's Employee Handbook and follow all resort policies regarding grooming, dress and professional conduct

  • Seek opportunities to enhance the guest experience and department operations


Safety Responsibilities



  • Prioritize the safety of yourself, co-workers, and guests at all times

  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor or department

  • Operate all equipment safely and responsibly

  • Follow all company and departmental safety policies and procedures

  • Drive in compliance with all laws and Chestnut Mountain policies


Qualifications



  • Must be 16 years or older

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college education preferred

  • Competent skier/rider (you do not need to be an expert; we will train frequently to build on snow skills)

  • Genuine passion for snow sports and teaching others

  • Experience teaching, coaching, or supervising

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patient, creative, and energetic approach to teaching

  • Adaptable and eager to learn and grow professionally



  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays -in the cold!!

  • Positive, team-oriented, and professional attitude
