Summer Camp Counselor (seasonal, as-needed)

About the role

We are looking for a seasonal, as-needed, Summer Camp Counselor to join our team! This position is open from May through August 2026 in Cincinnati, OH.

Key Accountabilities

• Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities.
• Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors.
• Proactively address and deescalate inappropriate behavior.
• Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices.
• Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities.
• Maintain, clean and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.
• Supervise children ranging from ages [insert age range if applicable].
• Clean up after the children every shift.
• Play games and other activities with the children.
• Make sure the children are checked in and out by parents.
• Nurture sharing, sportsmanship and other social skills.
• Escort the children to the playground and ball fields.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Child/Infant CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 30 days of hire.
• Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth.
• Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
• Active listing skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
• Ability to be a positive role model for program participants.
