Organization: ICDT!


Position Type: Part-Time


Hours: Based on ICDT! class schedule and teacher availability. Operating hours are as follows:


Summer: Mondays-Fridays between 8:30am-5:30pm


Fall & Spring: 2:30pm-8pm


Possible additional weekend & daytime availability needed


Pay Rate: $25-$30 per hour, commensurate with experience



About ICDT!


ICDT! is a youth-focused performing arts center dedicated to creating inclusive, high-quality theatre experiences for young performers and our community. We value collaboration, creativity, and hands-on learning, and we strive to create a safe, supportive environment both onstage and behind the scenes.



Position Overview


We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Theatre Teaching Artist starting this summer who is dedicated to inspiring students of all backgrounds and abilities. This individual will have a deep commitment to youth education in the arts and bring experience in theatre, dance, or music education. This role is ideal for a teaching artist who excels in classroom management, values inclusivity, and thrives in a team-oriented environment. Teaching artists will also lead classes, workshops, and camps, fostering a supportive environment for students and families alike. Teaching schedules range but our programming typically runs between 8:30am-8pm, 7 days a week. Specific schedules are set three months before programming begins and will remain consistent throughout each session. Additional hours may be requested for subbing. 


This position will guide students through skill-building activities that foster a love for creative expression and personal growth in areas such as acting, voice, and dance. 




Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead Instruction for classes

  • Create lesson plans and lead weekly classes for ages 4-18, focusing on foundational theatre skills, confidence, and self-expression.

  • Serve as the lead coordinator for all program activities, managing schedules and materials to ensure classes run smoothly.

  • Facilitate a welcoming, positive learning environment where students feel valued, confident, and inspired.

  • Direct students through the process of rehearsing and presenting a final short performance, emphasizing the skills they gain throughout the class and/or productions.

  • Maintain accurate class schedules and attendance records in ICDT!’s system, coordinating with administrative staff to streamline registration and data tracking as needed.

  • Contribute to creating and upholding education policies that foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.



Possible Additional Responsibilities:  



  • Organize seasonal camps and workshops, particularly during school breaks, while expanding curriculum offerings based on student and parent feedback.

  • Participate in all relevant staff meetings, including one training meeting prior to each semester.

  • Attend ICDT! performances as part of community engagement, with occasional support at these events as needed.

  • Represent the program at community events and maintain strong relationships with families, schools, and arts organizations to build awareness and support.



Qualifications:



  • Minimum 3 years of experience in arts or youth education, with specific experience in musical theatre, dance, acting, or music.

  • Experience with working with children ages 4-18 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, theatre, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Demonstrated abilities in classroom management, curriculum planning, and relationship-building with students and families.

  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work with students of various backgrounds and abilities.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, with an ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
