Job Description - Theatre Associate

Compensation Range

$15.00 - $57.00

What You'll Do:

The Theatre Associate plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of front-of-house activities within the theatre. This position involves box office ticket sales, providing excellent customer service, and supporting the overall audience experience during performances and events.

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:

Box Office Operations:

  • Process ticket sales in-person, over the phone, and online, ensuring accurate transaction handling.
  • Manage cash and credit card transactions.
  • Assist patrons with ticket inquiries, including purchases, exchanges, and refunds, while resolving any issues efficiently.
  • Maintains theatre's customer database and mailing list

Customer Service:

  • Greet and assist event attendees as they arrive, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Provide information about current and upcoming performances, seating arrangements, and theatre policies.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive experience for all guests.

Event Support/Facility Maintenance

  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the lobby, box office, restrooms, and other public areas.
  • Report maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel to ensure a safe environment for patrons and staff.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with ushers, volunteers, and theatre staff to ensure efficient front-of-house operations.
  • Participate in pre-show briefings and post-show debriefings, contributing to team communication and improvement efforts.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with promotional activities and initiatives to enhance audience engagement and ticket sales.
  • Stay informed about theatre programming, policies, and emergency procedures.
  • Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software and point of sale systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a theater or entertainment setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Comfortable navigating busy environments and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
The work location of this job will be 220 E Commerce St High Point, North Carolina.
