Unarmed Security Officer- Part Time

Position Summary

The Commercial Real Estate Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding tenants, visitors, property staff, and physical assets across office buildings, mixed‑use properties, and commercial campuses. This role ensures a safe, professional, and customer‑focused environment through proactive patrols, access control, incident response, and consistent communication with property management. This position requires strong situational awareness, excellent customer service, and the ability to remain calm and solution‑oriented in fast‑paced or high‑pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to tenants, visitors, vendors, and property staff while enforcing site‑specific policies and procedures.


• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, common areas, parking structures, and perimeter spaces to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.


• Monitor access points, lobbies, and exterior areas, verifying credentials, assisting with visitor inquiries, and ensuring only authorized individuals enter the property.


• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, notifying property management or emergency personnel as appropriate.


• Document activities, observations, and incidents through accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and maintenance notifications.


• Support daily operations by reporting hazards, lighting issues, access concerns, and maintenance needs that may impact safety or property conditions.


• Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, vandalism, trespassing, and other unwanted activity across the property.


• Assist with emergency response procedures, including evacuations, medical events, and safety drills, following site‑specific protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• At least 1–2 years of security experience is preferred; commercial real estate experience is a plus.


• Strong customer service and communication skills.


• Ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs as needed.


• Ability to pass background screening in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.


• Florida Class D (unarmed) required, or Class G (armed) license preferred, depending on assignment.

Work Environment

• Indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to weather conditions common in Florida.


• High‑visibility, tenant‑facing role requiring professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills.


• May involve night, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on property needs.
