Minimum Requirements

•  High school diploma or equivalent

Certificates/Licenses

• Possession of a proper class license valid to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of appointment

Job Summary
This is transportation work driving a van for the School District. It is a split shift part-time position with assignments that change daily. A van driver provides rapid response to students to and from school on a regularly scheduled route, alternate sites during the school day, after hours, and school sponsored athletic functions. Performs minor daily preventative maintenance to the van as needed.

Essential Functions
• Provides critical support to transportation operations.
• Drives a passenger van to a number of assigned routes, picking up and discharging students at designated location; transports students on field trips.
• Supervises or assists in the supervision of students’ behavior while in the passenger van.
• Cleans and maintains the passenger van; may assist transportation mechanics in the daily maintenance of the passenger van which may include checking batteries, radiators and changing tires.

• Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • he principles of automotive equipment operation.

  • the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • the component parts of automotive vehicles and their functions.

  • computer based equipment.
     

• Demonstrated ability to:

  • operate a vehicle safely and efficiently.

  •  perform light manual tasks if required by work assignment.

  • understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • complete and maintain vehicle records.
