Salary Range: $16.33 - $19.50/hour
The Visiting Monitor position plays an important role in helping County inmates connect with family, friends and legal representation. This is an important step in the rehabilitation process. This position offers flexible hours and is a great for those interested in learning more about a career in law enforcement.
Position Objective
To provide monitoring of the inmate visitation program at the Stearns County Jail. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient visitation process which adheres to the facilities rules and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Inspects all visiting areas for safety, security and sanitary conditions.
2. Approves visitors by verifying identity and checking for no-contact orders.
3. Enforces visiting rules and applies sanctions as needed.
4. Assigns visitation stations and monitors time periods for each visitor.
5. Monitors and reviews visits to ensure compliance with visiting rules.
6. Communicates with supervisor regarding questions or problems related to visiting.
7. Maintains documentation logs, reports and other forms as required.
8. Attends work in a regular and timely manner.
9. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

1. Ability to learn visitation and property procedures.
2. Ability to learn and understand the operations manual, emergency plan and the facility's entire floor plan, including camera and alarm locations.
3. Ability to deal effectively with adverse persons and situations.
4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
The primary responsibilities for this position will be performed approximately 100% of the time indoors. Will require travel to offsite locations and minimal attendance at evening meetings. Will have infrequent exposure to health hazards and accidents; requires a low level of physical effort. All employees are required to reside within the state of Minnesota.
Extent of Supervision or Guidance Provided
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Sergeant-Corrections.

Frequent.
Hours of Work
Hours for this position vary. The position will average up to 20 hours per week with shifts being scheduled Monday-Sunday with flexible scheduling. A set schedule will be established upon hiring. Potential to work hybrid location.
