Senior Structural Design Draftsperson - Get Hired Fast

Carnac is an expanding engineering services company, and we are seeking a Senior Structural Designer to join our multidisciplinary team.  Our highly competent team of engineering and design specialists provides project services to top-tier clients in the heavy chemical and mineral processing industries.

This is an exciting career development role for a highly motivated and results driven Structural Design Draftsperson who wishes to broaden their career. Reporting to the Design Office Manager, this role will have significant interfaces and cross accountabilities with all other design disciplines.

The ideal candidate will possess solid technical design skills in reinforced concrete and structural steel, who is willing to take on new challenges and eager to “get the job done”.

Carnac will support the successful candidate to develop and broaden their design drafting skills in the heavy chemical and mineral processing industries and offer support and training with Bentley OpenBuildings, Inventor and Navisworks.

A typical day will see you actively involved in design/drafting meetings with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients, and producing meeting notes to ensure good communication flow. Other responsibilities will include: 

• development of drafting deliverables
• identify deviations in job scope and estimates
• action modifications to models/drawings through the review and approval process
• monitor quality control for all design drafting inputs.

Office hours are Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times.  You will have the option of working from our Perth head office in Myaree, 20 minutes from the Perth CBD, or our south-west office in Bunbury. 

Qualifications and technical experience

• Ideally 8+ years in heavy chemical and mineral processing design. 
• Relevant Design Drafting TAFE diploma, certificate or equivalent.
• Proficient in the use of 3D and 2D design software to produce models, drawings and sketches.
• Experienced in the use of MicroStation, OpenBuildings, Inventor, Navisworks.
• Structural steel and concrete design drafting with compliance to Australian Standards and Carnac/client standard drawings.
• Available for site trips for pre drafting stage/viewing/measuring.
• Proficient in understanding project scope and set design drafting discipline objectives for project success.
