Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) is the national body representing over 15,000 members in the speech pathology profession. SPA supports and regulates the ethical, clinical and professional standards of its members as well as lobbying and advocating on behalf of all Australians living with communication and swallowing difficulties.

SPA presents an exciting full time opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to utilise their learning design skills in a new environment. The position could be performed remotely or from the Melbourne CBD office (hybrid).

Working as a key member of the Professional Education team, identify, develop, and deliver a range of high quality, contemporary professional education that extends the capabilities of speech pathologists nationally and advances the speech pathology profession. A key focus for this role will be to guide the design and delivery if our portfolio of live online learning events, and to grow our capacity to deliver high quality and contemporary online education programs.

Key responsibilities:

Curriculum development and content collaboration

• Use data and insights from a range of sources to identify members’ current and emerging needs and preferences for professional education offers.

• Identify, liaise, and secure the participation of leading subject matter experts to deliver content and events in response to member needs.

• Collaborate with and support leading subject matter experts to design and deliver contemporary, engaging, and authentic online content and live education events.

• Apply instructional design techniques such as learning objectives development, content organisation, activity design, assessment creation, and evaluation to ensure that the learning objectives are met.

• Oversee development of templates, multimedia elements, tools, handouts, guides, or other supporting resources.

• Apply extensive technical knowledge to develop and quality assure content within the LMS.

Program implementation and management

• Develop and implement an annual product roadmap of events, with associated budgets, in consultation with the Manager Professional Education.

• Coordinate the logistical, operational, promotional, and financial aspects of the portfolio, in partnership with the Professional Education team and key stakeholders.

• Liaise with subject matter experts nationally, or internationally, to organise logistics, operations, and finances for professional education offerings, including development of presenter/writer contracts.

• Monitor and report on the execution of offers.

• Provide technical advice and support for the delivery of live online events.

Stakeholder engagement

• Serve as a key liaison between advisory groups or committees, and the National Office.

• Collaborate with advisory groups or committees to identify professional education priorities and identify and engage subject matter experts.

Communication and marketing

• Monitor registrations regularly to maximise marketing and advertising activities and liaise with the Marketing and Communications team to drive registrations.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Professional Education Communications and Marketing strategic plan and support the delivery of agreed tactical responses in partnership with the Communications and Marketing team.

Participant feedback and reporting

• Design and implement program evaluations.

• Interpret participant outcome data (including program evaluations) to prepare and submit outcome and evaluation reports, and to provide feedback to subject matter expert content creators.

• Identify and implement iterative improvements to portfolio offers, in response to feedback and insights.

To perform this role successfully you need:

Essential:

• A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in the design, development, and delivery of educational offers, across all modalities.

• Excellent knowledge on learning theories and instructional design models, as applied to professional education offers.

• HTML and visual design skills.

• Experience designing engaging and authentic live online educational events, ideally for allied health audiences.

• Experience in sourcing, analysing, and implementing insights from both qualitative and quantitative data sources to inform design, and in designing and evaluating feedback methodologies.

• Commitment to implementing continuous quality improvement and innovation approaches.

• Demonstrated strong stakeholder liaison and the ability to effectively collaborate with subject matter experts.

Desirable:

• A tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology, with a minimum of three years clinical experience.

• Current membership of Speech Pathology Australia or willingness to join.

• Active participation on association forums.

• Established networks in the speech pathology profession.

• Demonstrated experience developing SCORM-compliant courses using Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise, and Learning Management Systems.
