Job Description - Health, Safety, & Wellbeing Specialist

As the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Specialist at Mollydooker Wines, your role is highly valued and plays a key role in continuing to help promote our organisational culture of care and support for our people, and to build and maintain programs that support a safety-first and compliant workplace. Through proactive programs, education, and systems, you will partner with our operational leadership team to proactively maintain a work environment focused on minimising risk to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of our team members, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering a range of workplace initiatives that continues to ensure the highest standard of safety culture across all Mollydooker Wines worksites, utilising the workplace health and safety audit as one of the tools to prioritise WHS work activities and areas of focus.
  • Ensure Company compliance with obligations under all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practice through research and analysis of both existing and emerging requirements.
  • Working in partnership with the Winery Site Safety Coordinator, and other operational leaders in HSW activities whether it be physical, psychosocial, or other elements of health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Develop, implement, and update safety policies, procedures, and programs in line with industry best practices, and regulatory requirements to maintain the highest level of safety awareness, practices, and wellbeing of our teams.
  • Effective risk management, including maintaining the risk register and conducting risk assessments, and emergency response preparedness.
  • Maintain up to date records and data; prepare reports on health, safety and wellbeing activities, audits and inspections, incidents, and hazards to support effective decision making and workforce engagement.
  • Conduct and coordinate regular WHS audits and inspections, providing recommendations; formulation of policies, procedures, and other supporting documents to continuously foster a safe working environment.
  • Working with the HR Generalist and operational leaders on injury management and return to work programs.
  • Manage the company’s safety system, Skytrust, ensuring full utilisation of the system and that team members are trained in the system along with associated programs and procedures.
  • In partnership with the Site Safety Coordinator, manage the Site Safety Team fostering an engaged and actively participating committee, including leading reporting and record keeping functions.
  • Coordinate our safety and wellbeing calendar and events for team members through a purposeful strategic approach to support operational activities.
  • Assist in the facilitation of employee health and safety learning programs.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in Workplace Health, Safety Management within an operational high-risk environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and high level of technical ability in Workplace Health Safety and other relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and codes of practice
  • Experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of risk assessment, safety / quality auditing, compliance programs to all staff.
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and/or equivalent or greater Workplace Health and Safety experience
  • Able to develop strong working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation and excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills including communication, consultation, negotiation, and facilitation.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including proficiency in formal business writing, policy development, and reporting.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of education and training programs.
  • Experience in development and implementation of Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategies, initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Technical proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office, Teams, and Safety Systems.
  • The focus of this role will be on preventive measures, requiring attentiveness and proactive thinking. Detail orientation is essential.

This is position is open to a 0.8-1.0 FTE arrangement, and flexible work schedules will be considered in line with the business operation and can be discussed at time of interview. This position is based at Mollydooker Winery in McLaren Vale and will be required to go between the various sites where Mollydooker operates including high risk environments.
