Systems Engineers - V&V and Systems

Frequentis Australasia Pty Ltd was established in 2004 in Brisbane as a wholly owned subsidiary of Frequentis AG. Frequentis Australasia delivers and supports communication and information management projects for air traffic management, defence and public transport organisations throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the South Pacific Islands and has offices in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Position Purpose

We are looking for Systems Engineers to help develop, test and implement several Tower Automation projects in the first instance. DAS compromises of three core systems: a Visual Reproduction System (VRS), a Tower Automation System (AAS) System and a Voice Communication Switch (VCS). for Air Traffic Control Tower Automation Systems.

Main Tasks

• Support with the analysis of customer requirements and operational scenarios
• Perform requirements and technical analysis
• Creation of Test and Acceptance artefacts required by the project such as:
  • Test Plans,
  • Test Cases and Procedures
  • Test Reports
• Formal Test and Acceptance activities to achieve System Acceptance with the Customer
• Testing and error identification during integration of software into customer environment
• Use of test and measurement tools
• Maintain customer contact in relation to V&V activities 
• Bug tracking and error reporting in close cooperation with System Integration and Development Engineers
• The V&V and Requirements Engineer supports the Frequentis Project Manager and Engineering Manager on successfully executing the project in line with Frequentis and customer processes.

Experience and Skills

• At least 5 years of Systems and V&V experience
• Solid understanding of the ‘V’ and experience in working in most of these facets
• Technical education for software solutions, communication solutions, traceability processes and test engineering
• Hands-on experience on setting up and testing IT systems and IT networks
• Very good Linux knowledge and practical experience
• Experience with networks (Layer2 + Layer3), ideally protocol knowledge (UDP, TCP, Multicast)
• Communication skills and willingness to work directly with the customer and end users during test execution 
• Good understanding of standard V&V functions
• The candidate needs to have strong collaborative behaviours around communication, cultural understanding, flexibility to change, sharing knowledge, and achieving collective goals and need to have a willingness to travel within Australia and also to the Frequentis Headquarters in Europe.
