Mechanical Engineer / Product Designer - Urgent Position

Inventor is a full-service product design and engineering consultancy, involved in all stages of the product development process. We can take product ideas from an idea on the back of a napkin through to market launch. We assist our clients with the product ideation, design, prototyping, testing, manufacture, quality control and supply chain management of their products. 

At Inventor, our work covers a wide range of products and industries, including consumer electronics, heavy machinery and automation. 

What is the Role?

This role will suit either a Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Designer or similar. 

The role involves taking ownership of projects, through research and development, design, prototyping and manufacturing stages. This process involves direct client management, collaboration with external and internal stakeholders, clear communication and technical knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Who would excel in this Role?

• Relevant qualifications at the tertiary level in mechanical or mechatronic engineering
• 3-5 years’ experience in product design, prototyping and delivery.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD system
• Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques including CNC machining, casting, plastic moulding, forming and extrusion.
• Hands-on experience with basic hand tools, power tools and machinery. 
• DFM experience.
• Materials selection knowledge (metals and plastics)
• Direct client-facing experience will be highly regarded.
• Technical document writing.
• Ability to design to Australian and international standards.
• Detail orientated
