Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with expertise in WordPress custom development and a willingness or experience in React (Next.js) to join our dynamic Agile (Scrum) team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, with hands-on experience in custom WordPress theme and plugin development. This role will also involve collaborating with the frontend team to integrate and maintain a Next.js frontend while keeping WordPress as a Headless CMS. 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Develop & maintain custom WordPress theme, plugins, and features to enhance the functionality and performance of our web application 
• Integration with a React (Next.js) frontend while leveraging WordPress as a Headless CMS (Rest APIs) 
• Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions and integrate with third-party systems and APIs 
• Develop custom Gutenberg blocks and components to extend the capabilities of the WordPress editor 
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional Agile (Scrum) teams to design, develop, and implement new features and enhancements. 
• Optimize application performance, ensuring seamless user experiences across various devices and browsers 
• Implement and manage caching systems to improve application performance and scalability 
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality deliverables 
• Utilize Bitbucket for version control and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment 
• Deploy and manage applications in an AWS Cloud environment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field desirable
• Professional experience in backend development, with a focus on WordPress (PHP, Rest API) 
• Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. 
• Experience with headless WordPress setups and integrating with frontend frameworks like React (Next.js) 
• Experience with WordPress custom theme and plugin development, Gutenberg block development 
• Experience working with WPML plugin 
• Experience with caching systems to optimize application performance and scalability. 
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset 
  

Preferred

Qualifications

• Familiarity with React (Next.js) or willingness to learn and work with React for frontend development

• Familiarity with Agile (Scrum) methodologies and working in cross-functional teams 
• Proficiency in using Bitbucket for version control and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment. 
• Knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO) implementation and integration with third-party systems and APIs. 
• Experience deploying and managing applications in an AWS Cloud environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
