Job Description - Contract Manager

Be a part of a leading multidisciplinary company recognised for its comprehensive internal Engineering Department and innovative capabilities in geotechnical engineering, concrete technology, BIM, and system engineering. Our client’s operations span across Northern and Eastern Europe, North and Central Africa, the Middle East, Canada, and Australia, and we want you to be a part of its continuous expansion.

We are seeking experienced Contract Managers to oversee the contractual aspects of our large-scale construction projects. These roles are available in Belgium, across Europe, or at various international locations.

As a Contract Manager, you will ensure robust contractual governance from the tender stage through to project completion, securing optimal contract conditions and managing all contractual obligations.

Your Tasks
  • Tender Stage : Collaborate with the Legal department and other relevant teams to review and analyse contract Terms and Conditions. Propose necessary amendments for alignment of standards and prepare essential contractual documents like MoUs, NDAs, and pre-bid JV/Consortium agreements.
  • Negotiation : Lead the project negotiation process to secure the most favourable contract conditions. Finalise JV/consortium agreements and maintain regular communication for critical decisions.
  • Start-Up Phase : Assist the project team in establishing required procedures and templates for effective contract management.
  • Develop any new procedures as needed and ensure all contract documentation and deliverables are prepared on time.
  • Review main subcontracts and purchase orders and provide an initial contract briefing to the project team.
  • Project Execution : Serve as the primary contact for the project management team regarding contract management.
  • Support the team with contract changes, claims, and litigations, providing necessary documentation and strategic advice.
  • Develop and implement contract management strategies and conduct regular site visits to monitor project status and provide peer reviews.
  • Training and Reporting : Educate engineers and managers on contractual matters to foster aligned practices within the business unit.
Your Qualities
  • Educational Background : Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering with a keen interest in contractual matters.
  • Experience : At least 5 years of relevant experience, particularly with FIDIC contracts, and proven ability in leading international commercial negotiations with clients and suppliers.
  • Time Management : Demonstrate exceptional time management skills to handle complex project timelines and deliverables effectively.
  • Negotiation Skills : Possess strong negotiation abilities and organisational acumen.
  • Problem-Solving : Exhibit robust problem-solving skills to navigate and resolve contractual challenges.
  • Relationship Building : Ability to foster and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
  • Flexibility : Willingness to work and live abroad, with flexibility in terms of the geographical area of work.
Languages
  • English : Very good knowledge required.
  • Other Languages : Additional languages are a plus.
