Job Description - Project Coordinator, Logistics, Transportation, and Operations

BC Emergency Health Services Burnaby, BC (Hybrid possible after 6 months) Regular, Full Time BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is hiring a Project Coordinator, Logistics, Transportation, and Operations . Role Summary In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of BC Emergency Health Services, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at BC Emergency Health Services, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all patient and employee safety aspects of this position. Reporting to the Executive Director, Logistics Transportation and Operations, the Project Coordinator works to identify and prioritize projects and is responsible for the coordination of projects relating to the Community Paramedicine agenda including the broad areas of knowledge exchange, information dissemination, and education for internal and external stakeholders. The Project Coordinator is actively involved in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of such projects, and maintains primary project coordination responsibility. Supports team efforts with internal, external, and provincial partners on ongoing programs and initiatives to improve the quality and accessibility of health services and in related research and knowledge exchange activities. Coordinates a diversity of projects of varying size and scope in a complex and changing multidisciplinary environment. What You’ll Do
  • Coordinates the execution of projects, assuring they are done in an efficient manner, that they adhere to project protocols, that they conform to applicable institutional and ethical policies and procedures and privacy legislation, and that they are completed within the required timelines. May include supervision of staff or students assisting in large or complex projects.
  • Identifies, collects, and analyzes relevant information relating to current projects, and provides input and recommendations to the Executive Director, Logistics Transportation and Operations, and the other leads in the LTO department including the Director of Aviation, Director of Fleet, and Director of Logistics and Projects, for development, implementation, analysis, dissemination of findings, and policy/practice implications.
  • Assists with the dissemination of information and knowledge related to projects and key programs and initiatives under the identified mandate areas through a variety of vehicles to internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Actively supports the management and facilitation of time-limited projects and programs to identify best practice-grounded strategies and activities for health professionals in relation to Community Paramedicine quality initiatives.
  • In collaboration with Quality Leaders and/or Clinical Leads, coordinates the implementation of approved recommendations resulting from research, best practice, and policy reviews.
  • Provide assistance to evaluative and special projects within the Department; liaising with external partners; developing evaluative surveys using web-based survey software; supporting special initiatives and assisting e Project Directors.
  • Some travel may be required as needed.
Qualifications What you bring A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) to five (5) years recent related experience or equivalent work-related experience in a health, social services, government, or community organization. Understanding of and practical skills in project coordination/management, research and evaluation. Skills & Knowledge
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of applications with a typing speed of 55wpm or higher
  • Self-directed with strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Related experience working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external partner groups. Displaying qualities including: creativity and innovation; sound judgment; tact and diplomacy; ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a demanding and dynamic environment; sound negotiation, conflict management and consensus-building skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity
  • Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, supported by significant knowledge of Canadian and Indigenous ideologies, including knowledge, and understanding of Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, Indigenous-specific racism and anti-racism.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.)
