Job Description - Purchasing Analyst

Purchasing Analyst Location Hybrid remote in Winnipeg, MB :

PURCHASING ANALYST (MERCHANDISE PLANNER)

At Bootlegger, our Merchandise Planner works closely with buying and allocation, acting as the financial backbone of the cross functional team.

Merchandise Planners develop department and category plans in dollars and units by month, quarter, season, and year in partnership with their merchants. The planners are ultimately responsible for setting the plan and are accountable for meeting sales and profitability targets while managing inventory responsibly.

What you'll be a part of

  • Accountable for building department/class/subclass plans to support nation-wide merchandise strategy to support sales and profit objectives of the business. Oversees the development of specific business plans, including execution, reporting, monitoring and budget management.
  • Plans portfolio by creating pre-season dollar and unit plans and manages business in- season to fund sales and trade inventory.
  • Responsible for markdowns and promotional plans for specific business unit.
  • Directs team to ensure optimal outbound inventory flow to support business plan; identifying and escalating sales risks; influences inbound flow with merchants and business partners.
  • Mentors and guides allocation analyst to execute the merchant vision in store.
  • Proactively works with merchant partners to continuously analyze business and provide recommendations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial and store analysis as required.
  • Collaborates with affiliated banners to share trends, knowledge, risks, opportunities, and differentiation plans.

The right fit

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or Retail preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Retail Planning & Allocation preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Experience with Aptos Planning software and Query Designer is an asset, but not required.
  • Solid understanding of financial planning, business tools and reports to make business recommendations.
  • Highly effective prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deliverables.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including analysis of information (i.e. requirements; description of problems); provide solutions with cost implications to effectively resolve issues and execute strategic solutions.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian retail landscape and market trends to develop future merchandise strategies and capture market share.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and results oriented.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven team player who is both flexible and adaptable.
