AR Accountant

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with various accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. You will work closely with the Director of Finance and Finance Manager to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Prepare schedules and analysis to support management decision-making.
• Assist in the preparation of variance analysis.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting files and records.
• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial information and support as needed.
• Maintain Fixed Asset schedules and amortization.
• Filing and paying both GST returns and PST returns.

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Genius) is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as formulas and pivot tables.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience filing and paying GST and PST returns.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
