Purpose

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (The CEO), the Chief Information Officer (The CIO) sets the strategic direction and leads the Information Technology function in Tangerine Bank. With oversight of technology business strategies, plans and initiatives, the CIO ensures that execution and delivery are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and aligned with Tangerine's strategic plans and objectives. In addition, the CIO is a member of Tangerine's Executive Committee and contributes to Tangerine's overall business strategy and key decisions for the Bank.

The CIO is accountable for the entire technology scope and end-to-end technology delivery, including engineering, projects, data, IT operations, cybersecurity, compliance, and IT risk for Tangerine. The CIO is the steward of all systems and technologies delivering and supporting digital (mobile & online), electronic delivery, call center, automated telephone banking, data centers, core banking, and products for Tangerine.

The CIO oversees the Vice President, Platform Development and the Vice President, Technology Planning, Governance & Enterprise Architecture, and Technology Program Director with accountability for all functional areas, including Software Development, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Planning & Performance, IT Risk & Governance, Project Management Office, and Fraud/AML Technology.

The CIO collaborates with key business partners across Tangerine in translating business requirements into cost-effective IT design specifications for technology solution construction, ensuring the resulting technology solution provides optimal integration with existing business processes and alignment with business priorities.

The CIO is also accountable for 24x7 operations of IT data centers, networks, ABMs, and security operations/cybersecurity, to ensure top tier service levels to Tangerine's clients and employees.

Accountabilities

Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

• Actively contribute as a key member of Tangerine's Executive Committee, providing input, thought leadership, advice, and support on the full breadth of business issues, well beyond technology issues, as well as act as a role model for the Company's client-focused culture and cultural values, always looking for new ways of doing things and working across organizational silos.

• Accountable to drive the following key objectives & priority areas:

? Customer Value - Provide vision and leadership to enhance customer value and drive the development of Tangerine's market-leading client-facing applications and technology. Evolve the technology to provide experiences that differentiate Tangerine and create the future banking experience by continuing to drive a culture of customer-centric solutions, rapid time-to-market, relevant innovation, and product development, supported by knowledge of leading-edge technologies.

? Cyber-security and IT Risk - Enable the safety and security of Tangerine as it relates to cybersecurity, including vulnerability management, technology currency, cloud security, cybersecurity posture finding, etc.

? Operational Excellence - Optimize and improve existing systems, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the core infrastructure and operations evolves to deliver superior effectiveness and efficiency. This will require the adoption of industry best practices in technology and processes, as well as the effective management of the technology budget.

? Modernization - Drive modernization and a culture of commercially relevant innovation throughout Tangerine by maintaining the Company's market-leading technology position in mobile, digital, data and cloud computing with a view to keeping and renewing Tangerine's significant competitive advantage over traditional financial institutions and other direct banks. Continuously seek emerging technologies to satisfy business needs, and monitor "threat" technologies that could potentially disrupt in a negative or positive context our industry.

? Invest in our people – Lead and oversee team dynamics and engagement through select people strategies related to learning and development, diversity, equity and inclusion, talent management, and org design and effectiveness.

? Risk Posture: Responsible for maintaining the correct risk posture for Tangerine Bank in line with regulatory bodies, including the following priorities: logical and privilege access governance, security technology integration (integration of technologies & processes with IS&C), availability and resiliency of systems, and compliance with applicable regulatory obligations and close all regulatory findings on time.

OKR and KPI Management: Oversight of all Technology OKRs and KPIs including Reliability, Delivery, Risk, Budget, Resourcing, etc. In addition, the CIO is accountable and responsible for identifying, assessing, and responding to IT risks in accordance with the IT Risk Management Policy. Work on a matrix base framework with the IT Risk Management function to implement and apply standard enterprise IT Risk reporting and metrics. Accountable for ensuring direct reports communicate key areas of risk to the business supported.

Channel Effectiveness: Continuously reassess Tangerine's delivery channel efficiencies and capabilities by directing the ongoing review and evaluation of the various delivery channel and banking services environment; maintaining a conceptual model of future delivery capability while overseeing the research and development activities with an objective to identify business applicability of emerging technologies within the environment. Accountable for the maintenance and operational support of all banking and electronic delivery channel delivery systems, and procedures, providing 7x24 support and resolution to all stakeholders, the monitoring of qualitative and quantitative service availability levels, the maintenance and operation of security controls, and the provision of continuous evaluative feedback from product groups, digital, sales and services channels.

Managing in a Matrix: Partners with multiple business lines/units within Tangerine (and broader Scotiabank) in translating business strategies, plans and requirements into technical design specifications which are used for construction of the technology solutions. The CIO also ensures that the design is also consistent with the overall IT and business strategies.

Acquisitions & Divestitures: Provides direction for the IT and operations aspects of acquisitions and divestitures. This includes working with cross-functional teams from other areas of the Bank to achieve an effective and smooth transition and integration. Overall objective is to fully realize the value of the transaction.

• As a member of the Tangerine's senior leadership team, the CIO is also accountable for the following: Delegated by the President and CEO the responsibility for overseeing the execution of the Regulatory Compliance Framework including the Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing and Sanctions Program at Tangerine as outlined in the Scotiabank Enterprise-wide Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing and Sanctions Policy.

• Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / Sanctions, and conduct risk.

• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education / Experience

• Preference for a University or College Degree or equivalent experience. An MBA is an asset.

• +15 years of IT experience with exposure to various aspects of IT functions.

• +10 years of leadership experience with demonstrated success in implementing continuous improvement and strategic initiatives.

• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and application delivery.

• High level understanding of software development lifecycle.
