McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre (DRCC) delivers a wide spectrum of cancer services to the residents served by the Central East Regional Cancer Program. Completed in 2007 as a partnership between Ontario Health - Cancer Care Ontario and Lakeridge Health, the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre is a 90,000-square foot facility that houses cutting-edge equipment and an interdisciplinary team of oncology specialists. DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Health System Executive & Regional Vice President of the Central East Regional Cancer Program (Ontario Health - Cancer Care Ontario), the Director of the DRCC will work in partnership with the Chief and Medical Director - Oncology, as part of a dyad model to provide leadership, management and strategic direction for the DRCC and the programs it supports in other hospitals This is an exceptional opportunity to join one of the top cancer centres in Ontario right here at Lakeridge Health. As one of 14 Regional Cancer Programs created by Ontario Health - Cancer Care Ontario, we ensure that cancer care is delivered according to province-wide quality standards, overseeing the delivery and quality of cancer services for residents across the region. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director will possess strong leadership skills and expertise in hospital operations, strategic planning and change management, in addition to financial and human resource management expertise. The Director will be responsible for achieving results; empowering and developing others; generating enthusiasm, excitement and buy-in from partners across the region and province; and collaborating and engaging constructively with interdisciplinary team members to support a high-quality cancer care service in alignment with local, regional and provincial priorities. The Director will have a personal drive and need to achieve results by working collaboratively across various sectors to accomplish program outcomes and setting goals and priorities that maximize the use of resources. The successful candidate will provide visionary and influential leadership to advance the mandate of the DRCC and will ensure key priorities of the CE Regional Cancer Program Strategic Plan and the CE Regional Indigenous Cancer Plan are advanced in alignment with the Ontario Cancer Plan and First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Cancer Strategy, respectfully QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of a Master's Degree in a related discipline;
  • Certificate of registration in good standing from a healthcare regulatory college;
  • 7 or more years of progressive experience in a related health discipline relevant to the Program, with progressive management experience;
  • Significant management experience in Cancer services, preferably in a multi-site hospital and regional program environment;
  • In-depth understanding of local and regional programming, system integration, population health and health equity with proven demonstration of same;
  • Extensive knowledge of the funding environment for hospitals and Regional Cancer Programs in Ontario, including Quality Based Procedures for cancer care and an understanding of accountability and performance management frameworks;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively interdisciplinary teams of more than 200 people, and ability to create a high-performance culture that facilitates growth and development;
  • Superior critical thinking skills, systems thinking, ability to conceptualize, analyze and solve problems through innovative approaches;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a proven track record of fostering collaborative partnerships with other service providers;
  • Proven track record of achieving results that improve the organization and inspire confidence and commitment;
  • Proven management skills including financial, human resources, quality improvement, change management, and program evaluation;
  • Exceptional negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills;
  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust; and,
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to comprehensive health & safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education;
