Job Description - Contract Manager

Location: 889 Brock Road, Pickering, ON Status: Regular Full Time Deadline to apply: May 15, 2024 Education level: Bachelor’s Degree in business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of experience in a contracts-related field supporting engineering and/ or Nuclear projects. Travel: 20% Job Overview LEP is seeking dynamic talent to join our team in the role of Contract Manager. The ideal candidate would have 8+ years of experience working in progressive contract management roles. As a member of the Commercial & Risk team, you will be accountable to the Director, Commercial, for developing and assisting with providing leadership in supporting contract management processes, oversight, and employment contracts for contractors. Key Accountabilities LEP’s Contract Manager will be responsible building out Contract Management processes in a staged approach. Within The First Three Months, The Contract Manager Will
  • Supports Manager with long-term contracting strategies such as Master Service Agreements (MSA) and engineer/Procure/Construct (EPC). This also includes input in developing strategies to mitigate risk regarding contracting issues and providing contract management advice and guidance to organizations in Nuclear Refurbishment Projects & Support of Nuclear.
  • Review work plans, contract documents, and design packages as
  • Provides input regarding sub-project management (details for field use) and integrated estimating, costing and scheduling functions for modification projects and work programs.
  • Provides input to contract management processes and practices.
Between Three To Six Months, The Contract Manager Will
  • Advises on long-term PSA maintenance outage overflow strategies, including making presentations to senior leadership teams across the Nuclear
  • Regularly interfaces with Projects, Facilities, Maintenance, and Finance organizations to execute all projects.
  • Collaborates in development and supports negotiating purchase order requirements, negotiates Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and Request for Quote (RFQs) and manages external and specialty contractors. Ensures LEP and contractor staff fulfill obligations as per the Ontario Health & Safety Act (OHSA) as owner, constructor, and
  • Provide assistance with construction services in executing capital and Operations, Maintenance, and administration (OM&A) projects to meet performance, safety, regulatory, and quality requirements within budget and schedule commitments.
  • Management of the LEP Contract Database.
  • Rollout of new Contract Drafting software.
Between six months to a year, the Contract Manager will:
  • Maximizes the working relationships with the various unions and their This includes advising clients, consulting, and resolving jurisdictional disputes between and within trade unions. Provides labour relations advice and guidance.
  • Determines project staffing requirements and develops and executes a staffing plan for trades to ensure maximum productivity within schedule and budgetary commitments.
  • Advises on strategy or actual training development for all contractors and contract admin staff across the LEP organization.
EDUCATION Requires a knowledge of business-related disciplines such as economics, engineering, business administration, information technology, finance, statistics, and organizational behaviour including the ability to utilize all available tools, processes, and methodology to meet business needs. Requires excellent communication, listening and influencing skills, oral and written, to provide independent, objective opinions and practical and effective recommendations. Qualifications We are seeking dynamic and results-driven professionals who have the following:
  • Experience in the review, drafting, redlining, and negotiation of a variety of engineering and/or construction agreements
  • Strong written (including contract/legal drafting) and excellent oral communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work within deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with people across a wide range of levels and responsibilities
Experience
  • Requires demonstrated experience in the following:
  • Contract management principles, project management, consulting, or a similar field to provide consultative services and comprehensive technical expertise and instruction to personnel throughout the Corporation seeking assistance on contract management matters.
  • Experience to be familiar with numerous contract templates, contract types and contracts.
  • Experience in performing contract monitoring, contract negotiations, and
  • Experience to become familiar with working with various Business Units and support functions.
  • Sound judgment, augmented by background skills and expertise, is required in conducting in-depth contract investigations and explaining commercial risk approaches and outcomes to prevent loss exposures, estimate future loss frequency and severity, evaluate alternate schemes and arrive at a logical answer for eliminating, controlling, and financing associated risk exposures.
  • Knowledge of Software such as SAP Ariba, DocuSign, Microsoft SharePoint
