For more than 80 years, Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS), a not-for-profit organization, has been providing premiere security services to Nova Scotian companies and organizations throughout the province. Historically known for its social mandate to provide meaningful employment to military and police veterans, CNS now employs more than 1300 trained professionals at over 200 sites across the province. CNS is a leader in providing security services including guarding, threat risk assessments, by-law enforcement, police clearances, federally certified unmanned aerial systems, closed circuit television monitoring, record suspension, and US waiver services. Commissionaires Nova Scotia is also this year's recipient of the Chamber of Commerce 'Not for Profit Company of the Year'.
Are you a natural leader who's motivated to achieve the highest professional standards and practices for both you and your team? We have an exciting opportunity as the Controller for our Finance team at Commissionaires Nova Scotia. You'll report directly to the CFO and be responsible for accounting operations of the company. This includes the maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk. The Controller is also responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of the company's reported financial results in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. In addition, the incumbent supports the CFO by proactively serving all departments within CNS to meet their strategic and financial objectives through the provision of regular reporting and cost analysis, as well as special ad hoc reports.
The ideal candidate will be engaging, collaborative, professional, highly adaptable, and be able to manage ever-evolving priorities. You will be able to work independently, with a high level of attention to detail and manage a hard-working and diligent finance team.
