Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager – Surgical/Business Processes (MDR), or designate the incumbent is responsible for:

  1. Coordinating the day to day organization of equipment and supplies for the Program(s).
  2. Participating in the capital equipment process including contacting vendors and providing Managers of Patient Care and CRNs with product information.
  3. Ensuring equipment is safe and in good mechanical working order and is available for patient use.
  4. Providing administrative support related to the tracking and record-keeping related to all equipment purchases.
  5. Coordinating and maintaining equipment/instrument/supply inventories, ensuring that quantity and quality standards are maintained, including:
    • Maintaining inventory lists of equipment/supplies including items being repaired or replaced.
    • Initiating the exchange of incorrect and/or deficient items.
    • Monitoring accuracy of charges, credits from product complaints and transfer of charges.
    • Taking action to ascertain status of back ordered items.
    • Requisitioning and maintaining, on approval, non-stock equipment/supply orders.
    • Delivering and labelling equipment as necessary.
    • Requesting quotes on new equipment.
    • Assisting with implementation of practice and/or product changes.
    • Facilitating the preventative maintenance program for selected equipment, in collaboration with Clinical Engineering.
    • Participating with Clinical Resource Nurses (CRNs) and Managers, Patient Care in solving equipment issues.
    • Acting as a resource for staff in trouble shooting and the use of patient care equipment and supplies.
    • Following up on staff complaints and/or Incident Reports involving products, supplies and/or equipment. Communicates results of findings to CRN or Manager, Patient Care.
    • Investigating unusual occurrences such as breach in infection control, broken or damaged equipment, etc. and report it to the appropriate manager or director.

Experience

  • Two (2) years’ experience related to inventory and audit systems.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare setting.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Completion of relevant post-secondary education in electronics, computer sciences, mechanical or power engineer program.
  • Combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.

 

SPECIAL TRAINING

  • Knowledge of inventory and audit systems required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Workplace health and safety certificate required within 3 months of hire date.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Typing 40-50 wpm.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to work with a team as well as independently with minimal supervision when required.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
