Position: Engineering Program Manager

Salary: $75,000/yr - $105,000/yr

The Engineering Program Manager reports to the Manager of the HVEV (high voltage electric vehicle) Value Stream and is responsible for providing project management and oversight on a number of active projects. This role also requires technical input and collaboration into product design/development projects. The successful candidate must be capable in all areas of project management pertaining to the timely and cost-effective delivery of product design processes. This includes conceptualization through analysis and refinement, to implementation and commercialization as well as engaging in continuous improvement. The candidate must employ a working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and principles to balance company cost with customer value.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Professionally organize, plan, and execute multiple projects while working within budget and schedule restraints.
  • Lead the engineering and production teams to define project goals, communicate with stakeholders, and see a project through to its successful completion.
  • Utilize project planning tools and organization methods to specify project milestones and estimate timelines to complete tasks.
  • Monitor project deliverables and intervene as required to maintain project milestones.
  • Engage and interact with prospective customers to understand value creation and performance requirements necessary to deliver a strong competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate within the HVEV department and across all departments to achieve targets set by the Leadership team to meet strategic goals of the division and realize business growth.
  • Act as technical liaison with internal and external customer and suppliers as required.
  • Be proficient in engineering principles and design techniques including traditional theory, manual calculation solutions and software solutions (i.e. 3D Modeling, Drafting, FEA and Numerical Modeling).
  • Employ engineering principles and design techniques to assist with the development and maintenance of core components and product assemblies.
  • Implement knowledge of fabrication methods and manufacturing processes to bolster the robustness of products as well as efficiency and productivity within the facility.
  • Ensure full engineering practices, compliance with recognized standards and testing procedures are adhered to.
  • Employ thorough analysis methodology and strong analytical decision-making in all aspects of project management and engineering activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 4-year Bachelor of Engineering Degree from an accredited university of good standing or equivalent is required.
  • Project management designation (such as PMP) or significant demonstrated experience is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry work experience is preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing training or experience is an asset.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English is required.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is an asset.
  • Experience with air compressors, particularly rotary screw, is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawing standards (i.e. ASTM, ANSI, ISO) including interpretation and application of GD&T is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA is required.
  • Working capability with 3D modelling, drafting, office, finite element software is required.
  • Working knowledge of machining, casting, molding, sheet metal, weldment, fabrication, heat/chemical treatments and associated material characteristics is required.
