Job Description

Schedule: This is a day shift position

RESPONSIBLITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs physical inspection of manufactured and purchased parts, components from suppliers, assemblies, or subassemblies prior, during or after the manufacturing process using Verniers, Calipers, Micrometers, Thread gauges, Visual Inspection, Paint thickness meter, Coordinated measuring machine (CMM) and other inspection tools.

  • Read mechanical and electrical drawings to interpret requirements.

  • Process inspection lots in SAP and FTPC as required, provide inspection decision to accept/reject the lots.

  • Perform Non-conformance management activities including but not limited to assisting Stop orders, Hold Tags, Sortings, and WIP inspections.

  • Perform MRB related activities, such as but not limited to ZEs and ZBs.

  • Monitor and report progress and performance of Inspection and MRB activities.

  • Review production part approval processes (PPAPs) for suppliers to approve inspection lots as required.

  • Perform rework within scope of inspection function such quick and easy fixes, paint touch-ups with prior approval and training.

  • Accurately report task and times in Factory Talk Production Centre (FTPC) related to work orders and Critical to Quality (CTQ’s).

  • Could be assigned to coordinate, control and maintain some or all calibration aspects of test and measuring equipment, tools crimping and pneumatic equipment,

  • Assist, instruct, and provide training to other employees as required.

  • Could be assigned to the ESD process for the plant and document control tasks, as well as other duties related to the function as required and assigned by supervision.

  • Participate in activities to increase job knowledge, including required training and certifications, job rotation programs and training and coaching of other employees.

  • Participate in Behavioral Based Safety Training and contribute to the program.

  • Participate in LEAN/Six Sigma Training and contributes by making recommendations for applicable product or process improvements for manufacturability of the produced parts and products.

  • Ensure tasks are conducted in accordance with applicable employment, environmental, health, safety, quality, and legislation and or regulations (federal, provincial, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, etc.), as well as Rockwell Automation values, ethics, policies, and procedures, 5S requirements and standards of business conduct.

  • Creates an optimal work environment by establishing and maintaining positive and respectful work relationships.

  • All other duties as required and assigned by supervision.

SKILLS:

  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude

  • Problem solving

  • Reading and understanding written instructions, i.e., Cambridge Specific Procedures (CSPs) and Documented Work Instructions (DWIs)

  • Utilizing a computer to view, log, and/or find appropriate job-related information, i.e., SAP, FTPC

  • Self-directed in a team environment

  • Safe use of manual tools and, power tools and machinery

  • Demonstrate proficiency of assigned tasks, duties, and responsibilities required to achieve customer satisfaction, including but not limited to SAP, Factory Talk and Kronos.

  • Engage in and anticipate the activities necessary to meet the changing needs of the business, with the highest possible level of efficiency.

  • Produces results in a product and or service that conforms to valid specifications, is free of defects, strives to reduce variation of the process and adds value for our customers.

  • Demonstrates understanding and supports company values, policies, and standards of business.

EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION:

  • Level 3: 2 Years Related Experience, High School Education/GED

  • Technical diploma in related field

PREREQUISITE :

  • 2 years of Rockwell specific assembly/wiring experience within the past 3 years
  • 2 year of Rockwell specific machine operator experience
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • CMM trained
  • Able to perform the duties and responsibilities of an In-Process Inspector 2P.

ACCEPTS ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift weight of 35 pounds.

  • Ability to engage in continuous and/or repetitive physical activity involving manipulation of tools and materials

  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting

  • Ability to bend at the trunk

  • Manipulate objects using fine motor coordination

  • Reach forward, below and above shoulders

  • Climbs ladders and move under machinery

  • Frequent twisting

  • Good visual acuity

  • Responsible for utilizing proper safety equipment and following all safety procedures.
